As we discussed last week, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein is not expected to run for re-election in 2024, but she has not made any public statement regarding her future plans. Avid Calpeek readers have provided additional details and speculation about who’s in, who’s out, who’s running elsewhere…assuming Feinstein retires. Here are some details.
Congressman Adam Schiff has publicly stated that he is considering a run for Senate, if the seat is open. Last week, we talked about L.A. City Attorney Mike Feuer, State Senator Anthony Portantino, and Assemblywoman Laura Friedman. They are not considering a Senate run, but are looking at Schiff’s congressional seat, if it becomes open.
Politico’s Jeremy White provided a comprehensive write up in Sunday’s edition. He discusses the race and lists some of the top contenders: Some of the names mentioned around the water cooler include, in no particular order, Congressmembers Katie Porter, Barbara Lee, and Ro Khanna, along with Schiff.
As always, please contact Calpeek if you have any information about other candidates running.
