Here are some quick peeks on what’s happening in politics and government this week:
- Are you having campaign-withdrawal? Feel the need to walk a precinct? Host a meet & greet? No worries, the 2022 general election may be over, but, at least, one special election is already underway. The election to replace the seat left vacant by L.A. City Council President Nury Martinez has been called for April 4, 2023.
- Haven’t heard much lately from L.A. City Mayor Eric Garcetti? Neither have the residents of Los Angeles, although he was spotted at a Veterans Day Parade wearing his navel uniform and talking with failed mayoral candidate Rick Caruso. Garcetti’s last day on the job is December 11. Since Garcetti has experience with boats, maybe Caruso can hire him to pilot the yacht.
- A Calpeek shout out to Shanna Ezzell who’s Tweet expertly sums up campaign life: “There should be a place for campaign staffers to go once they emerge from the black hole to catch up on everything they missed in the world. Like a little highlight reel called “Previously on the Last 3 Months That Everyone Else Was Living While You Consumed Your 1,583rd Pizza.’”
