- Yes – politics can be fun! Better than a Slinky and more mystical than Silly Puddy, November 8 is just days away and our friends at CalMatters are really turning up the fun with its 2022 California Election Crossword Puzzle. In the words of CalMatters: Everyone knows the California election ballot can be puzzling. Now it gets its own puzzle. To keep the fun going, they’ve also compiled quizzes on propositions and candidates for state office.
- Fun can also be found for those obsessed with voter data. Political Data Inc.’s vote tracker will give you detailed, current voter turnout information for thousands of districts in California. Statewide, the current ballot returns stand at about 20% of all voters, but the fun is in the details. For example, over 33% of voters aged 65+ have returned their ballots.
- The next big game in town: who will be elected Assembly Speaker for the 2023-2024 Legislative Session. The vote is expected to take place on day one of the new session: December 5. The good news is you don’t need to wait a month for more information; Assembly candidates’ wins and losses on Tuesday will impact the Speakership vote. The Sacramento Bee has lots of details here.
