According to special election results released Wednesday, Elena Baca-Santa Cruz will be filling the seat of her late mother Councilmember Victoria Baca, who passed away in October 2021. Baca-Santa Cruz will represent District 1 through 2024, which covers the Northwest Moreno Valley. In the special election, Baca-Santa Cruz received 603 votes, while her competitor Gerardo Mercado won 513 votes, and Rene Ramos held 391 votes.
