TLC’s “Darcey and Stacey” has competition. In a twist of events, the LA CIty Council voted unanimously to fill its vacant Council District 10 seat with termed-out Councilmember Herb Wesson. The seat is vacant due to the Council suspending Councilmember Mark Ridley-Thomas for being indicted on federal bribery and corruption charges involving USC. However, a lawsuit filed by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) of Southern California and other supporters of Ridley-Thomas put a stop to the action taken by the Council. 48 hours later, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mary H. Strobel issued a temporary restraining order barring Wesson from filling the seat until the next hearing, which will be held on St. Patrick’s Day – March 17.
